All renewal members will be required to be current NRA members starting with 2014 membership.
A photocopy of your NRA card must be included with your application or renewal.

New Member Qualifications

Forbes Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc. welcomes those interested in competitive shooting.

If competitive shooting interests you, additional information, as well as a new member printable application, can be found here.

Please note that a sponsor (Forbes' member in good standing) and completion of a new member orientation (conducted at the range, as needed, on a prearranged basis) is required.
How to arrange for an orientation is described on the second page of the application.
The proposed member must appear at a quarterly meeting with their sponsor, where their membership will be voted on.

The Board of Directors has set the following minimum qualifications for new members, commencing January 1, 2009.

Proof of:
1. an NRA classification in a shooting sport; or,
2. satisfactory completion of a smalls arms training school (SAFS); or,
3. current peace officer, or service in the armed forces.
All applications are subject to BOD acceptance.

Please remember that new members must also attend an orientation course, as described above, before being allowed to use the range.

ELECTRONIC GATE

Forbes has agreed to participate with Watervliet Fish & Game Club to use an electronic gate to control access to both Forbes and Watervliet ranges.
The electronic gate has been in use since January 1st, 2010.
There is a onetime $10.00 fee for the gate key, payable with your initial dues.
However, if you are a Watervliet member and have purchased your key from that club, you will not have to purchase an additional key from Forbes.

WHEN TO PAY DUES & DEADLINES

Membership is based on the calendar year (January 1st - December 31st).
Dues are expected to be received by October 31st of the preceeding year.
Renewal dues not received by January 31st will incur a $20 late fee,
with renewal being the prerogative of the membership director
(meaning, termination of membership and deactivation of your electronic gate key).

New members pay dues as part of acceptance of their application as a qualified member.

HOW TO PAY DUES

Annual dues for 2024 remain at $50.00.

Please remember, if you already have an electronic gate key, you do not need to purchase another one.
There is a $10 replacement fee if lost.

Members in good standing can renew by mailing a check or money order for the appropriate amount,
payable to Forbes Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc., to the membership director at:

Forbes Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc.
c/o Ed Simon
904 State Route 40
Melrose, NY 12121

Please provide your clearly-written e-mail address and phone number to help your club reduce costs and to receive notices.
Be sure to include any other contact info changes.

Your renewal membership card will contain the new combination to the range locks.
It will appear on your card as "Key No. ****".
The lock combination is not to be shared with anyone.
The new combination goes into effect January 1st.

FAMILY MEMBERS

Only one gate key and card is issued per membership.
Family members can be listed with a member, however, can only be at the range with that member present.
When a family member attains adult age, even if still residing in the parents household,
they cannot continue as a family member and must apply for their own individual membership.
